Korfez Chamber of Commerce Chairman Recep Öztürk who make a statemant towards the sector, said, "Construction sector is in a bad fix because increases in construction materials put the sector in a difficult situation and slowed down the sector. As a committee, we will be a strict follower of the subject by examining in detail the problems that the construction sector has had regarding material supply and mark-up recently.
ÖZTÜRK "INCREASES OF CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS HAVE REACHED 140%"
Korfez Chamber of Commerce Chairman Öztürk made evaluations about the issue: "Recently, we have received feedbacks from our members who operates in the construction sector that there are excessive make-ups in materials and difficulties in supplying the products such as cement, concrete and iron. Especially on cement and iron, along with the recent mark-ups, there have been increases of 120% in construction iron, 140% in ceiling profile, 122% in TU profile and 114% in sandwich panel. The mark-ups in many materials has reached 140% and there is a supply problem. Since the amounts committed to the state or private sector cannot be kept sustainable and the ultimate buyer faces high numbers, the holding power of our enterprises in the market weakens and they cannot fulfil their commitments. Unfortunaltely, this situation has adverse outcomes that will affect the entire economoy.
A BALANCED MARKET IS A NEED
Öztürk continued his statements: "To establish a balanced market and solid mechanism has a vital importance especially in this period. and our work on this subject will continue. Mark-ups due to foreign exchange increase and the increase in the construction costs have reached unavoidable level. We have conveyed the findings and suggestions of our Professional Committee on the subject to the authorities before.
